چکیده

Background: Ultrasound imaging techniques have gained great popularity in anaesthesia during the last decade. We aimed to compare an ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block and caudal for postoperative analgesia children undergoing lower abdominal surgeries. Methods: This study randomly allocated 62 two groups of 31 each. One group received a with 0.25% bupivacaine 0.5 ml/kg 1 μg/kg dexmedetomidine while other TAP dexmedetomidine. The parameters that were compared duration analgesia, cumulative dose rescue analgesic consumed, FLACC pain scores postoperatively, intraoperative haemodynamic changes incidence side effects. Results: was comparable between groups, 6.61 ± 0.76 hours 6.65 0.915 group. However, total amount consumed significantly higher (375.8 120.5) (314.5 127.7). 0–6 postoperatively group, whereas had 6–24 steady consumption at 8, 12, 16 20 hours. Patient-parent satisfaction better (7.39 0.76) (6.48 0.811). Conclusion: provided superior block, as demonstrated by statistically significant decrease required postoperatively.

Efficacy of Adding Magnesium Sulfate to Ropivacaine in Ultrasound-guided Transversus Abdominis Plane Block on Analgesia After Open Appendectomy

Introduction: Proper management of postoperative pain relieves the patient’s discomfort, reduces the length of hospitalization, reduces hospital costs, and increases patient satisfaction. This study was aimed to determine the efficacy of adding magnesium sulfate to ropivacaine 0.25% in transverse abdominis plane (TAP) block under ultrasound guidance on analgesia after open appendectomy. Method...

Analgesic efficacy of ultrasound-guided subcostal transversus abdominis plane block

BACKGROUND To evaluate the analgesic efficacy on defined areas of the abdomen and back after ultrasound-guided subcostal transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block using 0.25% levobupivacaine 0.5 mL/kg. METHODS Twenty patients undergoing elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy, between 20 and 60 years of age with operative time <1 hour, received subcostal TAP block using 0.25% levobupivacaine 0.5 ...

Intraoperative Ultrasound-guided Transversus Abdominis Plane Block in Lower Abdominal Surgery

Background: Ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block has been used for analgesia in lower abdominal surgery. In the literature, there are inconsistent reports regarding the efficacy of TAP block in different open abdominal procedures. Therefore, we conducted this prospective randomised doubleblind study to evaluate the pattern of perioperative analgesia and to validate the effi...
